‘Horrifying’ violence between two sides protesting at University of California, Los Angeles

A violent clash occurred between pro-Palestinian demonstrators and another pro-Israel group at UCLA.

UC Vice Chancellor Mary Osako described the incident as a “horrific act of violence.” He added that law enforcement officials were called immediately after the accident.

Footage circulated on the Internet showed masked pro-Israel demonstrators beating pro-Palestinian demonstrators with batons and trying to disperse their camps.

The Los Angeles Police Department said it was acting at the request of university officials due to widespread violent activity on campus.

 

“Everyone has the right to freedom of expression and protest,” Los Angeles Councilwoman Katie Ax said in a post.

 

“This place is no longer safe.”

University of California – Police cleared pro-Palestinian protesters from Hamilton Hall in a raid at Columbia University in New York hours before violence on campus.

Pro-Palestinian demonstrators took over the hall and protested for 24 hours, ignoring the warning issued by the university administration.

Within two hours of police entering the university on Tuesday evening, Hamilton Hall and the tent camp were cleared and under control.

At that time, they arrested many protesters.

 

The detainees were handcuffed and taken to New York Police Department buses.

For the past two weeks, pro-Palestinian protesters have been camped out in tents on the campus of the Ivy League school.  more news visit 

Authorities issued an ultimatum to protesters by 2 p.m. on Monday to end the camp’s accommodation program, saying disciplinary measures would be taken if the order was not adhered to.
